Shocap Entertainment and The 7 Fingers receives Canada Media Fund for XR concerts, The LiViCi Series

Today, SHOCAP ENTERTAINMENT and internationally renown THE 7 FINGERS (LES 7 DOIGTS DE LA MAIN) Contemporary Circus Arts Collective in Montreal, QC are proud to officially announce they have been awarded major production funding from the Canada Media Fund (CMF) for The LiViCi Series, Live & Virtual Circus – a set of unique and interactive live XR circus and music performances, designed and curated to create thrilling fan experiences performed live onstage to audiences while simultaneously livestreamed to global audiences using virtual reality (VR) headsets, gaming PC’s, video streaming services, and expanding to the future of the Metaverse.

The LiViCi Series is part of the CMF Experimental Stream’s Innovation & Experimentation Program for Canadian interactive or immersive digital media content and software applications that are innovative and leading-edge. With Shocap as the production lead and co-producer The 7 Fingers as artistic lead, this collaboration is one of 10 Canadian innovative digital media projects which received funding from the CMF investment pool of $7.4 million for 2021/22 Innovation and Experimentation program.

Shocap Entertainment recently celebrated two years of incorporation; the company’s co-founders and industry veterans Athomas Goldberg of Lifelike & Believable Animation Design, and Brett Inneson of Animatrik Film Design combine over 50 years industry expertise bolstered by a growing team of top industry professionals. The company boasts extensive skills stemmed from triple-A video games, motion capture, visual effects, immersive experiences, virtual avatars, animation, real-time software and Arts and Entertainment. Shocap Entertainment were two times award recipient of the Epic MegaGrants Program from  Epic Games, the creator of the Unreal Engine and popular online video game, Fortnite, and were awarded funding by Creative BC. Athomas Goldberg, alongside with Samuel Tétreault (The 7 Fingers), won the SIGGRAPH 2021 RealTime Live! Audience Choice Award.

The 7 Fingers celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Since its inception, this art collective has consistently spread its horizons by mixing genres and exploring new ways to tell stories. Known for his versatile creativity, Co-founder and Artistic director, Samuel Tétreault is partnering with Athomas Goldberg to create the LiViCi Concerts Series. Samuel’s interest for interdisciplinary creation and artistic collaboration has brought him to direct a wide range of authentic work mixing the circus arts with dance, theater, visual arts, video projections, historical research, live music, etc.

About The LiViCi Concert Series
The LiViCi Concert Series début performance is set for Spring 2022 with further live shows in the winter. The LiViCi Series will provide audiences with a unique experience, combining the thrill of live circus performance with real-time character animation, high-end motion capture, and VFX in an immersive multiplayer virtual world they enter and explore with friends or go solo. The series of live XR performances fuse contemporary circus and guest musical artists in a concert format, presented in the Shocap 4-Audience Model which is accessible for all audiences to view and interact simultaneously: in-venue, livestream, multiplayer in-game and in VR – and next in the Metaverse. The live shows are produced using the Ringmaster Virtual Performance System (VPS) and the audience engagement supported by the Shocap ARENA platform.
